Udemy, the AI-driven reskilling platform, unveiled a new tool on Tuesday designed to help professionals refine essential workplace skills through AI-powered conversation simulations. The feature, called Role Play, allows learners to practice real-world scenarios—such as job interviews, conflict resolution, and leadership communication—while receiving real-time feedback.

The tool, part of Udemy’s recently launched Innovation Studio, enables organizations to customize training modules to address specific business challenges. Since its debut, instructors on Udemy’s marketplace have already created over 3,100 role-play exercises, reflecting rapid adoption.

“Mastering soft skills requires practice, not just passive learning,” said Hugo Sarrazin, Udemy’s President and CEO. “By combining expert-designed content with AI coaching, we’re bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.”

Role Play targets three key audiences: companies upskilling employees, professionals seeking career growth, and instructors creating interactive courses. The tool integrates AI-generated voices from ElevenLabs, allowing for diverse, lifelike conversational partners.

Frank Kane, a top Udemy instructor, called the feature “borderline magical,” praising its ability to reinforce learning through immediate, practical application.

As AI reshapes workforce demands, Udemy’s latest innovation underscores the growing emphasis on adaptable, human-centric skills. The company plans further AI-driven enhancements through its Innovation Studio in the coming months.
